About MortgageGrades

A grade for every mortgage lender in the United States, computed from the lender's own federal filings.

Choosing a mortgage lender is one of the largest financial decisions most people make, and almost everything published about lenders is either advertising or a review from someone whose experience may have nothing to do with yours. Meanwhile, sitting in a federal database, is a record of every application each lender received, what it decided, what it charged and why it said no.

MortgageGrades exists to make that record readable. We compute, for every lender, the odds an application was approved, the rates and costs borrowers actually received, and how often the process fell apart, and we rank each of those against comparable lenders. The result is a letter grade with the working shown underneath it.
